Greg Habegger
Associate Pastor
During his growing up years Greg lived in Iowa, Alabama, and Indiana. When he was 10 years old, God convicted him of his sin. He talked to his dad after a Sunday evening church service and prayed to ask God to forgive him. He was always open to whatever God had for his life, but it was during his senior year of high school that he realized he could use his love of music and ministry together.
After high school, Greg attended Bob Jones University and earned undergraduate and graduate degrees in Church Music. The Lord has led him to minister at churches in Ohio, Indiana, Georgia, and now Illinois.
He and his wife, Katie, moved to Effingham in November of 2022 so that Greg could join the staff at First Baptist Church as the Associate Pastor. He wants to use his God-given gifts and ministry experience “to equip the saints for the work of the ministry.”
Greg and Katie have been married since 1995. God has given them one daughter, Anna, who lives in South Carolina with her husband, Josh. During his free time, Greg enjoys cheering on his favorite sports teams, reading, and traveling.
